Reginald “Reg” Foulkes (born 23 February 1923) is a former footballer and a member of the Norwich City Hall of Fame.
He first won fame as a member of the England Schoolboy team of 1937, at the age of 14, he had a trial with Manchester United and then Birmingham City before joining the groundstaff at Fellows Park in 1938. He became a professional during the war. He was a fine Center Half, some said that he was cool and calculated and had ice in his veins. He was also a very good team and club captain. He made his full debut for the Saddlers in 1945 against Norwich City and went on to play 175 games and score 6 goals for us (he did make guest appearances for both Walsall and Birmingham during the war but they don’t count in records)
He was transferred to Norwich in May 1950 where he played for 6 seasons playing 238 times and scoring 8 goals, many of his games were as captain of Norwich.
Foulkes made 238 appearances for Norwich as a centre-half between 1950 and 1956, scoring eight times. Leading them for three good seasons when they finished high in the league.
When he left Norwich he joined Wisbech Town as player manager, he then moved to Kings Lynn before finishing his career as a permit player with Ceyms FC.
I have feeling that Reg came from Shropshire, somewhere, but I am not sure, so I weill put him in here being that the research is done on his career and that he gave us 5 years service.
