Walsall Player 23. Albert Newman

Albert (Nutty) Newman
I am moving just out of the Walsall area for this one as I think every Saddlers Fan has heard of him.
Albert was born in Lichfield, Staffs on the 1st May 1915
He died on 25th August 1982.
Albert spent a few years playing for West Bromwich Albions reserve team, before getting a transfer to Walsall in May 1945. He was a hard player, and fans said when Nutty hit you. You stayed hit. but he had a big heart and soon became established in the first team . He played 149 games for Walsall and netted 2 goals, however after the resumption of the League, post war! He played in 123 league and cup games only missing 1 of 124, the second of these seasons being the most successful season of his short career, and he retired
There is not much information with regards to Albert, out there unless of course one or more of you readers can elaborate.
